Area Attractions

Montrose stands before the San Juan Mountains and the Black Canyon to the east. Since 1882 the town of Montrose has served as a gateway to Western Colorado. The Black Canyon National Park is a must see for anyone visiting the area. At 2,700 feet deep and 53 miles long, it is truly a breathtaking sight with tons of hiking, fishing and biking options.

If outdoor recreation is your goal, don’t forget to visit Ridgeway State Park. Here you can hike, fish, boat, bike, just to name a few.

Montrose has a rich history. To learn more about it visit one of our museums here in town: Ute Indian Museum, Montrose County Historical Museum, or the Museum of the Mountain West.

Telluride is a short 67 mile drive away. If you are traveling in winter or summer and want to attend one of Telluride’s famed festivals, or ski the slopes stay with us and save. Spend your hard earned money on souvenirs, not on your lodging.

Local Events

Montrose Wine and Food Festival – May – The Wine Festival weekend is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for Montrose. The annual festival is sure to be a blast, come join us for the fun.

 

Montrose County Fair and Rodeo – July  – The Annual Montrose County Fair and Rodeo is a ten day celebration of our agricultural and western heritage featuring a CPRA Rodeo, Junior livestock and horse shows along with a ranch rodeo and tractor pull.
